Casa de Luz East

My favorite and only place to eat vegan food in town! The menu is always 100% macrobiotic vegan food. I first visited the Toomey Road location, so naturally, I found myself comparing the two. While this location has its own unique vibe, my initial impression was confusion—it looks like it used to be an apartment complex. The parking situation isn’t ideal, with large potholes (2-3 feet wide) making navigation tricky. That said, this location offers a more modern and polished design. The central courtyard is a nice touch, but it lacks the natural, almost mystical atmosphere of the Toomey Road location. There’s a more corporate feel here, with added features like an elixir bar, a plant house, yoga, and contrast therapy services. The staff is friendly, The Food. The food is great—that’s why I come here! I know I’ll always leave feeling amazing and wonderful after every meal. I feel full without feeling sleepy or weighed down. The meals generally follow the same structure: kale with a nut dressing, tossed salad with dressing, rice or grains in the middle, beans or another form of protein, a rotating main dish, and a soup. There’s only one thing I dislike in their rotating menu—the tacos. I’m not a fan of the asparagus sticks in them. Regardless, I come here for amazing food and a good atmosphere. This place always makes me happy, and any trip here makes my day better! Atmosphere While the original location feels homier, this one stands out for its spaciousness, high ceilings, and bright, airy ambiance (a stark contrast to the dimly lit, cozier setting of Toomey Road). It’s a great place to work remotely, whereas the other location is better suited for socializing. Overall, both locations have their strengths, but this one leans toward a sleeker, more work-friendly environment, while the original maintains a warm, inviting charm.

Not only is their food amazingly tasty, but also it's a heathy meal that never leaves me feeling tired, only energized. I love their mission and what they have been able to do with the space. The couple that started this location have been able to capture the essence of the original casa de luz with the blessing of their amazing owner. Such a special place. I've literally never found a place like Casa De Luz. Love it! Vibes are perfection.

WOW this East location is incredible! The food is AMAZING!!! And you get SO MUCH for 15! Plus it’s so fast and easy—you just walk in, pay and get an amazing plate of whatever they made today—no menus, waitstaff, etc. Yes, it’s all vegan, organic, local etc. but I know tons of non-vegans who LOVE this place. Plus it’s peaceful and inviting—you can hang out and talk without super loud music blaring. Can’t say enough great things about this place!!

Our 1st time here. We really enjoyed it! We are looking forward to our next time already. Such a relaxing and peaceful experience. The vibe was great. The food was simple and beautifully put together in our opinion for the price. The deserts were so good too! We took some to go lol. I'm hoping to plan a date where we can volunteer there together and maybe take one of the classes also.

This is one of my top two favorite places to eat in Austin. (The other place is Casa de Luz Village.) The food at Casa de Luz East is healthy, delicious, energizing, and filling. Whatever is on the menu that day is what is served, so I feel relaxed about that decision being made for me. I trust the quality of the kitchen and ingredients. My body and my spirit are nourished here. The ambiance of the space is calming and pleasant. It's easy to meet or make a friend here or to enjoy some contemplative time alone. There is a short table with coloring books and puzzles for children (or anyone who wishes to play there). Thoughtfulness, care, and intentionality are infused throughout the meals and the space. I'm so grateful that this is located conveniently in Central East Austin. Thank you, Casa de Luz East!

Absolutely fantastic food. I'd been looking to try how a balanced Ayurvedic meal feels. And I can confirm I was very satiated and had no desire to overeat (as I normally would). This has really highlighted the need to eat a well balanced meal above quantity.

This is one of my favorite spots to sit, eat, and enjoy the ambience. I leave feeling full, energized and satisfied. The food is always delicious- sauces take it to the next level! Especially love breakfast here- so much food to start my day off right.

Such an INCREDIBLE space. The food was so delicious and the portions were large. I was a little worried it wouldn’t be seasoned b/ it’s so wholistic but dang was I wrong ! It was SO flavorful and tasty. Wouldn’t change a thing ! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming . Love the whole vibe and all the accompanying shops. Will definitely be back !
